Skin of colour Training for Medical & Non-medical Professionals
Dr Bhavjit Kaur is a highly respected Aesthetic Doctor with over 32 years of clinical experience and a proven track record in mentoring and education. With a postgraduate background in Pathology, Biomedical Sciences, DRCOG, DFSRH, and Cosmetic Medicine, she brings a unique combination of scientific knowledge and clinical expertise to the field of Aesthetic Medicine.
As a Board Member and Trustee of the British College of Aesthetic Medicine (BCAM), Appraiser for BCAM, Mentor for BCAM Academy, and former member of the BCAM Audit Committee, Dr Kaur plays a key role in shaping standards within the profession. She has also served as a mentor with Harley Academy, supporting doctors at the beginning of their aesthetic journey.
Dr Kaur is passionate about educating medical and non-medical professionals on the importance of safe, effective, and culturally sensitive aesthetic treatments for Skin of Colour. Skin physiology and response to treatments can vary significantly across different skin tones, and without specialist knowledge, there is a higher risk of complications such as hyperpigmentation, keloid scarring, or post-inflammatory reactions.
Through her training and mentoring, Dr Kaur provides:
Specialist education on recognising the unique characteristics of Skin of Colour.
Practical guidance on safe treatment planning and tailored approaches.
Mentorship for those beginning their careers in Aesthetic Medicine, with a focus on evidence-based, ethical, and patient-centred care.
Support for non-medical professionals, increasing awareness and confidence in understanding the nuances of Skin of Colour in aesthetics.
Her teaching is designed to empower practitioners to deliver inclusive, safe, and high-quality treatments that respect diversity and ensure the best outcomes for every patient.
“Looking after your skin is as important as taking care of your teeth and physical health. But have you ever considered whether your ethnicity and the colour of your skin play a part in the way it should be treated?”
